Westmond Logistics are here to help you navigate the new procedures for moving goods from Great Britain (GB) to Northern Ireland (NI) after 31 March 2025.
Key Changes:
- UK Internal Market Scheme (UKIMS): If you're authorised under UKIMS, you can use the simplified Internal Market Movement Information (IMMI) process for many goods.
- Parcels: For business-to-consumer parcels, you won't need to submit a declaration.
- Simplified Declarations: Reduced paperwork and streamlined processes for eligible goods.
When Can You Use IMMI?
You can use IMMI for goods that:
- Are "not at risk" of entering the EU
- Are Standard or Category 2 goods
- Are in free circulation in GB and moving into free circulation in NI
- Are moved by direct transport from GB to NI
When Can't You Use IMMI?
You'll need a full declaration if:
- Goods are not directly transported from GB to NI
- You're not UKIMS authorised
- You're claiming duty relief
- Goods are entering a special procedure
- You're moving Category 1 goods
How to Submit IMMI:
- Use customs declaration software or ourselves at Westmond Logistics can do this for you.
- Submit pre-movement or post-movement.
Key Information for IMMI:
- Trader Details: EORI number, UKIMS authorisation number, exporter/importer details, intermediary information.
- Goods Information: Description, commodity code, value, quantity, country of origin, goods category.
- Movement Information: Destination, mode of transport, number of packages.
- Customs Procedures: Procedure being used.
- Additional Information: Certificates, licenses, NIRMS reference number, NIPHL reference number.
Categories of Goods:
- Standard Goods: Can be declared with a 6-digit commodity code.
- Category 2 Goods: Require an 8-digit commodity code and relevant licenses/certificates.
- Category 1 Goods: Cannot be moved under UKIMS and are excluded from IMMI.
Trader Goods Profile (TGP):
HMRC will create a TGP for UKIMS traders to simplify declarations. Access will be available around January 2025.
