Women In Business NI is a group of female entrepreneurs that promote and empower women in business. The group’s mission is to equip women with the knowledge, resources and support they need to be successful in business.
Through their many initiatives, they aim to address gender equality and empower women as leaders. They also strive to unify our community resources and programs that can propel women forward. Their statement encourages business leaders to envision a world where all women are empowered, respected, and included.
The group has made a mark on the world of entrepreneurship by encouraging businesses to implement empowerment principles into their work cultures and promoting equality for all genders within the workplace. They have also developed many programs for women entrepreneurs that will help them succeed in their respective fields.
Westmond Logistics is proud to be part of such a great network and member of Women In Business NI. Within our own business we empower our staff of all cultures, genders, and beliefs to push for the stars. Our staff are key to the running of our business and have made us who we are today.
Our Customs & Air freight supervisor Karis Hassard said “ It’s great to see women being recognised more as an equal within workplaces & long may it continue. Women always need to stick together, which is why I think Women in Business is a fantastic organisation, bringing the women of Northern Ireland together to support each other & celebrate each other’s successes in all types of careers. It is a privilege to be a new member of this organisation & I’m excited to attend some events in the near future! “
Karis continued to say “here at Westmond Logistics, I have always felt like an equal member alongside my male peers, I love being pushed to the best of my ability & from day one I have always been encouraged to get stuck in! As a woman in the logistics industry, it can be difficult to have your voice heard, however, I feel like I’ve pushed through barriers in my line of work & I look forward to doing this even more so with being a part of Women in Business.
As a business jointly owned by Director Melanie West, it is clear to see that women are now at the helm on business development and growth.
Melanie said “It is encouraging to see so many talented women at the top of their game. With organisations such as Women in Business making great strides to promote, empower and support women leaders in all industries, our future is bright. Whilst transport and logistics has historically been a male dominated industry, it is changing, and the percentage of women in leadership roles is increasing year on year. This is fantastic for me and my business and for those coming behind me. I can’t wait to see how they will progress and to celebrate their accomplishments.”
